Burgeson Family Farm

Our Farm

We are a small family farm in Newcastle which is in the Sierra Foothills of California. Our area is famous for growing especially sweet Satsuma Mandarin Oranges. We ship our Satsuma mandarins throughout the United States in the winter months. Our boxes of mandarins make great holiday gifts!

We also grow Meyer Lemons, Blood Oranges, Limes, Oro Blanco Grapefruit, Pomegranates, Persimmons and a variety of other fruits and vegetables. In addition to shipping boxes of fruit, we sell our produce directly from our farm.

About Us

Adrian is a retired schoolteacher. During his 32 years of teaching elementary school he started several school garden projects. He also shared with his students his love of healthy eating.  Many of his former students will remember his classroom as a place where they made home-made bread, sliced apples for snacks and once a year got out the grape press and made grape juice! Adrian now is a full-time farmer and enjoying the chance to spend most of his time outside.

Evan, our son, is a college student who also helps us out on the farm.

Dayna is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator and she works at the University of California  Davis Medical Center. She spends her workdays trying to help children and adults improve their quality of life by changing their food choices.  Dayna also runs the business side of our farm and maintains this website and blog.

Our Website and Blog

We have several areas of interest we hope to share with you on our site. For those that buy our mandarins we plan to keep you updated on the harvest and make it easier for you to contact us to order. We also hope to share with you a bit more about how we get that delicious fruit to your doorstep.

  1. What a beautiful website. Did you do the photography? Lots of great information. I will spend some time reading the whole thing soon, but for now…busy, busy. I am joining the ranks of the retired in June. Mary Davis

  2. Highly recommended !!! I ordered a box of mandarins for each of my siblings last year, and they all raved !!! I’m ordering again NOW!

  3. The farm looks AMAZING! The site, with it’s beautiful pictures, is probably not doing it justice. I can’t wait to see it when I pick up my loot of satsuma’s and persimmons. I love your post on how you check the fruit for sugar content and complete attention to quality for your products. Either for Christmas or the New Year…. I can’t wait to share the fruits of your labor with my family and friends. Thank you!
